"In New Braunfels, Ist Das Leiben Schoen!"

New Braunfels is proud of its strong Hispanic and German heritage and we look forward to the future as our diversity continues to grow. New Braunfels offers a unique combination of easy access to Interstate 35 and to two major airports in San Antonio and Austin, Texas.

New Braunfels is a great balance between the charm of a small community and the convenience of a large urban area. We have two highly regarded school systems, fabulous rivers, a vibrant downtown, and great neighborhoods.

Life in New Braunfels is good. In fact that is the City's motto. "In New Braunfels ist das leiben schoen!" which translates to "In New Braunfels life is good."

The promise of good living has lured newcomers to discover the magic of life in New Braunfels. No longer a quaint resort town on the river, New Braunfels has grown into a vibrant Hill Country superstar. Life is truely good in New Braunfels. The Comal and Guadalupe Rivers continues to drive tourism and spur residential development.

Sitting at the foothills gateway to the Hill Country, New Braunfels has rocky, rolling hills and treed landscapes to the west, and gently undulating agricultural and ranching lands to the east for a variety of housing settings. Proximmity to area lakes provide recreational havens and waterfront living.  Two Major spring-fed rivers course through the city. The Comal and Guadalupe provide excellent waterfront home sites, recreational opportunities and scenic landscapes.

The New Braunfels housing market offers a variety of choices. There are luxury condos on the Comal River, aprtment complexes in a variety of rent ranges, and a divrsity of single family homes. Housing growth in the City of New Braunfels and Comal County are among some of the highest in the state.  Residetial neighborhoods range from conventional subdivisions to gated communities.

There are neighborhoods with homes on small acreage, ranging from 1-10 acres, as well as waterfront areas on the rivers or any of several lakes. Home styles are historic Victorian and turn-of-the century housing to newly constructed custom and spec built contemporary homes, with an increasing interest in restoration and renovation of historic residential and commercial properties.

The average price of an average median home in 2008 was approximately $183,000 and about half of the homes sold have been on the market 90 to 160 days. A "typical" home would be a 3-bedroom, 2-bath, 2-car garage brick home on a concrete slab with about 1,800 to 2,200 square feet of air conditioned living area.
